Stress Reduction

 

 Stress is part of being alive. It can either motivate us to be creative & achieve(positive stress) or it can inhibit our lives & lead to states of illness, depression, anxiety & inertia(negative stress). Yoga teaches you to turn negative stress into positive.

To reduce stress we cannot treat the body & mind as separate. Tension is stored in the body mainly in our muscles, the diaphragm, & the nervous system. When we relax these areas, stress is reduced. Yogic methods of deep relaxation have a profound effect on the central nervous system, particularly the parasympathetic nervous system, evoking the "relaxation response" in the body. It also works on calming the circulatory, respiratory, & digestive systems. When a part of the body is tense, circulation to that area is diminished, reducing immunity. Yoga helps to relieve tension & increase circulation. Blood flow to all areas improves. Rapid, shallow breathing becomes deep & slow allowing a higher intake of oxygen. The body calms along with the mind.

5 Week Stress Reduction Program

 I offer a five week stress reduction program that encompasses education, breath work, yoga philosophy & calming restorative postures specifically designed to ease stress & tension in the body & mind.

This series is given on a 1:1 basis & is an alternative therapeutic approach for those interested in learning how to break the patterns of stress & "reaction" in their lives. You will gain an understanding of patterns of behavior & emotional reactions that keep you trapped in the cycle of stress, reaction & exhaustion. You will learn techniques to deeply relax & self-sooth.

This series is given as a 5 week package.
